Even though I had dubbed this "not so great expectations" while reading it, I did actually enjoy it. The story itself is not all that interesting, but the characters are wonderful, particularly Wemmeck and Miss Havesham. There is a gripping contrast between the purely good characaters and the purely evil ones, and seems to be no one in between. The only character besides Pip that seems to change is Miss Havesham, but of course, too late. This edition included the original unpublished ending and the final one that has been read all these years. I have to say, I far prefer Dickens' original concept, it seems to make the book more complete. But I have never been a fan of happy endings.
