My Review:
I loved this book. It was a sci-fi suspense, but the book never left the Centre, so you never really got bogged down in this world. What you do know of it is of the Centre and the horrific way they treat these children, soldiers, and experiments. If this is a glimpse into the future, I don't want any part of it because it is NOT pretty.

The Centre is creating a new kind of soldiers who have special abilities...ranging from telekinesis to pyrokinesis to telepathy. They create these soldiers from children and don't care how they get results...just that they get them. These children and soldiers are raised with the daily threat of torture and death if they do not perform according to the Centre's needs. It's truly a horrific existence.

JC is a soldier and one of the lead scientists at the Centre. Although he's been raised at the Centre, he knows what the Centre is doing is wrong. At the beginning of this book, is doing everything he can to change it, but his rebellion fails. But that failed rebellion brings him to Amy, a mental patient who's been on the psych ward at the Centre almost her entire life. Ironically, even though she's truly on the edge of a complete meltdown, she manages to save JC. Her powers are truly amazing.

I loved the characters of JC and Amy. Like most within the Centre, they realize how truly evil the power is at the Centre. Unfortunately, they've learned this with extremely harsh and horrific first-hand experiences. BUT they find salvation from the horror through each other. They truly become a lifeline for the other. A true partnership in every way and I loved that.

I'm thrilled to see that this looks like this is a start of a series. I'm already intrigued by Stefan and Macmillan's story and want to know more about the entire squad. It's an interesting premise. This book was fabulous in that the romance was absolutely breath-takingly beautiful. I felt the connection between these two characters through every part of the story. But there was also a fantastic suspense story line. i had no clue who the serial killer was, and while I wasn't surprised by who it was, I definitely did not see that person's identity coming. It was really just a fabulous read and I look forward to more in this series.
