Fictional historical writings based on real events in Vietnam.

I picked this up thinking it was one cohesive novel. But it is definitely a collection of short stories / essays.

Like most collections, it has ups and downs. Some of the stories are fully fleshed out incredibly intriguing tales of pivotal moments in the war. Others are short concise anecdotes. Again, as with most short story collections, an editor would have benefited from the mantra of Less is More. weeding out some of the more mundane stories would have made this a better book as a whole.
