This could have been a good book if it was 1/3 shorter. Became ponderous and repetitive in its effort to build suspense.

Tim Challies I really enjoyed The Lost City of Z, though I think you're right in that it was a bit too long. There are a lot of books that are just a bit too long...

Barnabas Piper It felt like the author set it up to be suspenseful then undermined himself by taking so long to get the story anywhere. I thought it was well-written in terms of the journalism and history, and the subject was quite interesting.

Tim Challies Sounds like you feel guilty about giving it two stars. Come on; it should be 3 at least. :)

Barnabas Piper Nope, 2 stars means "it was ok". That about sums up my feelings. Not worthy of a "I liked it" but not bad either.
