Chris I got kind of bogged down by it and haven't actually finished it. It certainly has some interesting elements, but for as far as I got it seemed more like a series of very loosely related short stories being forced into line rather than a coherent novel. However, I don't tend to respond well to KSR's writing in general - nothing I can put my finger on, but often it just doesn't do it for me. I usually like the ideas and settings, but something is lacking in the execution. This book felt especially that way. If you like his other stuff then you'll probably quite enjoy this one. If not, then you'll probably find this one too slow.

I expect I will make the time to finish it at some point, on the basis of the premise if nothing else.
