Here's the thing about this book. It's a comfort read for me. This book is all you could ask for in an 80s thriller/romance: jewel thieves, chess games, daring escapes, beautiful women with innate grace, handsome men who are rough around the edges, a Robin Hood theme to justify why we are all rooting for the thieves, a psycho stalker obsessed with the heroine. What more could we ask for in the 80s?
The heroine conveniently can mimic any accent she hears. The hero conveniently was raised around carnies and learned a good con game early on. They hate each other. They want each other. They steal from the miserable and selfish rich and both give to charities.
