A readable book with a fascinating argument about how we are throwing our most precious protections away. Drift discusses the separation of the American populace from the American military, a development aided by craven politicians, power hungry monarchical presidents and the increase in mercenaries and privatization. War bothers us so little st this point that we don't notice that were bankrupting our country by constant fighting. Learn that the American military accidentally dropped four nukes on Spain, lost armed nuclear unintentionally flew a plateful of live nuclear weapons over the entire north- south width if the US, and about the deterioration of our nuclear capability and the dumbing down of the maintenance personnel. And learn how Creightin Abrams attempted to save the Army and the Republic by making it necessary to use the National Guard and the Reserves in wars. You really need to think about this stuff, and it's a funny book, written in the same wry style she uses on TV.
