Fun book, if you are in the mood for a light romance/fantasy/mystery. Vampire portrait screams Twilight, but I think this is more interesting (less creepy in terms of the 'perfect vampire' fantasy.) Characters have a bit more dimension. The first half is the 'magnetic' attraction of the Vampire and Witch a la Twighlight, then it becomes more fantasy/mystery. The Vampire world is dark, while the witch world is more fun/fantastic. I enjoyed the witches home in NY which reminded me a bit of Hogwarts (ghosts and the building being 'alive'.) There is a layer of history, science and literature that tries to elevate the books and definitely makes it more interesting. A mystery that plays out over the trilogy, which includes time travel to the 16th century which engaged me in the beginning but drags out a bit.
