So now that I've read this book and Kate Jacob's series The Friday Night Knitting Club I realize what, kind of, bothers me about her writing style. She spends too much time trying to get the reader invested in tons of characters and their lives and then rushes thru the big event in the book. She also bases her books on matriarchs who are supposed to bring people together but doesn’t take the time to endear them to the reader. She tells you they are caring and loving but fails to show by their actions that they are. The stories she is telling are good, but because we have so many people to get to know we never really get down to the meat of any one of them and then why do we really care about the story?
I did enjoy this book and will most likely continue to read Kate Jacobs books. I would recommend this book for anyone looking for an easy read or anyone who loves cooking shows.
