** spoiler alert ** The basic premise of this book is a bit over the top evil for my usual murder mystery taste--isolated country folk who rape their children and steal their neighbors babies go rogue in the big city, murdering pregnant women to get their unborn children (isn't it easier to snag them after they are born, and much less messy). Once you get over those hurdles, the book is very well done, and I would definitely read another with these characters.
