And then it's a chase scene.

Snow Crash is just plain fun. It's hard to take a book seriously when the main character is named "Hiro Protagonist", carries around a pair of katanas, and starts out working as a pizza delivery driver for the Mafia. Fortunately, Snow Crash doesn't seem to particularly care about being taken seriously, and has its tongue firmly planted in its cheek from page #1. The plot is a mix of modern American culture, near-future technological speculation (circa 1992), ancient mythology, and linguistics.

I felt the ending was kind of a let-down after all the marvelously weird stuff that had come before it, and a lot of the technological stuff is remarkably dated. But the book's still worth a read.
