While not my favorite classic story retelling, The Looking-Glass Wars are fun and exciting books. Beddor is very good at incorporating aspects of the original story and then turning them on their heads. This book fleshed out some of the characters for me, especially Hatter Madigan. I also love stories that tell you why the bad guys became bad, which The Looking-Glass Wars touches upon. The audiobook was very good - good, but not ridiculous voice distinctions for each character and added sound effects for explosions and magic spells. All in all, it’s an action-packed, adventure spin on Alice in Wonderland.
