Okay, I like the idea of this book and as an adult, I really enjoyed it. However, I don't think that the audience the author intended this book for is actually the audience for this book.

Fefa has dyslexia and struggles with reading and writing throughout the book. I could see a book with that premise being really good for a child who struggles with reading and writing. However, with the way this book was written, I think it'd be extremely challenging for a child with dyslexia to read this book. There's Spanish and really flowery language with huge words. Not that this would necessarily stop a kid with dyslexia from reading this book, I think it could definitely make them not want to read it.

This is definitely the kind of book adults love to force onto kids though. Oh, and I think that someone who loves Sharon Creech's works will also love books by margarita Engle.
