I've been enjoying books about important historical people and events that I know almost nothing about (like the assassination of President Garfield in "Destiny of the Republic"), and this was offered as a special purchase on Audible, so I grabbed it.

The first chapter was surprisingly dull, but the reviews on this site are so strong, I feel I must persevere.

It gets a lot more interesting. And, bonus, the time period is the same as the other book I'm reading, The Alienist (late 19th century), and Teddy Roosevelt figures prominently in both - fun to get totally different perspectives on this towering persona.

I feel sort of bad, but I'm getting sick of this. It's not bad, but there's SO much detail, just too much - I find myself drifting while I listen. I'm putting it aside for now.
