Read in January, 2012

My dad watched the made for television miniseries in 1983 when I was 7 years old so I grew up hearing a lot about The Thorn Birds. Late last year I picked up a copy of the novel at Half Price Books and deicded to give it a try.

Going into the novel I was a little weary thinking it might be a romance novel. I was pleasently surprised. I think this novel will work for anyone who has ever been in love with someone who will not or cannot love them back. We've all been there! I also think Father Ralph and Meggie are two of the most interesting characters I've ever encountered. The Thorn Birds is a rollarcoaster ride of emotion and drama set against an epic historical backdrop.
