In the Shadow of the Banyan: A Novel is exquisite. I do not doubt it will be on my top ten list for the year--and probably in the first position. Yes, it is sad to think of those times, and my eyes were filled with tears toward the end, but it also reflects the beauty of the land and the people in one of my favorite destinations. Whether you are booking a trip to Cambodia, or just want to know more about the history, you cannot do better than this book.
