Read from April 12 to 16, 2012

For some reason I tend to read a lot of memoirs by really screwed up people, and Wild was no exception to that. Cheryl Strayed went on a downward spiral after her mother died within a few months of a cancer diagnosis. Her marriage fell apart and she started using Heroin. When she hit rock bottom she happened upon a book about the Pacific Crest Trail that runs along the West coast from the Mexican border to the Canadian border and got it into her head that she would hike it. She had no previous backpacking experience, but decided that this was what she needed to do for a fresh start. Wild chronicles Strayed's experience hiking the Pacific Crest Trail - all the physical hardship of it, but also the amazing friendships she makes with other hikers and what she learns about herself at the end of this journey. Definitely an interesting read.

Melanie Jessica you have the best reviews. I'm so glad to have you as my goodreads friend! Now I want to read this book.

Jessica I actually thought you might like this book Melanie. Since I know you like hiking - although she does a pretty hardcore hike! It was definitely worth reading.
