The Bean Trees (Greer Family, #1)
by Barbara Kingsolver
by Barbara Kingsolver
i am a big fan of BK so i was excited to read this YA series. i really enjoyed this book. i fell in love with the characters even though the character development could have gone farther. it went far enough for a YA novel. the story line is engrossing and moves itself at the perfect place and offers thought provoking and deep themes whilst the overall feel of the book is more lighthearted and witty./
it's like an indie movie.
it is a YA novel supposedly and that is my favorite part.... it is refreshing to know there are books out there offering more substance and reality than vampires and whatnot. the character devel and story inticacies had some holes, yes, but that is exactly what you need in a YA novel. don't overload them with the details yet and get them to fall in love with literature.
