A good book, but not great. I wanted to like it more than I did. It is a devastatingly sad story of French Jews during the Holocaust paralleled with a current day story of those discovering and impacted by the past. I appreciated the structure of the two story lines working together. The past was heart wrenching, I learned many things, but the modern day characters and their story was not compelling to me.
But it could be that I read it while laid up in bed with a bad back (giving me a bad attitude.) I don't regret reading the book.
