I was a student of religions for a very long time (still am, I guess, just not as active) and I've made it through long tracks of reasonably dry text, but I just can't seem to hang with this book at all. I guess I'll never "get clear" through Scientology.

Vicki I'm sorry, but those people are scary. I tried to pass through the scientology publisher booth at Book Expo a few years ago and nearly got hot-boxed by a pack of reps with wide eyes and weirdly vacant smiles. Eeek! I just missed getting surrounded when I scurried away babbling about being late for something. I probably shouldn't judge a whole, um, religion on the people working a Book Expo booth, but there's also that strange Tom Cruise scientology video that is (or at least was) on youtube...

Jackie I distrust anything that is supposedly spiritual but requires money to "move up" in and cloaks itself in such tremendous secrecy. The Catholic, Morman and Free Mason churches trip this radar too, though not nearly to the extent that Hubbard's crowd does. Plus, the book was just toooooooooooooooooooooooooo out there for me. Though clearly, it, like most religions, has truly helped some survive and thrive.
