It was good. Very good even, and I could easily see other readers enjoying it still more than I did. The ever present seductiveness of the story and its tall-dark-and-handsome villain, though titillating at times, is probably aimed more at readers who can easily connect with the young, female protagonist. Some of the dialogue occasionally bordered on the melodramatic, but was generally overshadowed by author's otherwise lovely prose.

This was the first book I read by the author, and would certainly consider reading more of her work. If you're looking to get lost in some dark/magical fantasy for a few hours The Pattern Scars isn't likely to do you wrong.
