FINALLY. Finally I didn't hate Jessica Darling. I only picked up this book (and the next two, because they were there...) at the library when I went in to pick up another YA novel I had on the hold shelf, and I can't leave the library with just one book. It's physically impossible.

As you'll see from my reviews of the first two Jessica Darling novels, I had a really hard time finding her to be a sympathetic character. She just annoyed me, more than anything. And, while Marcus Flutie certainly did seem to be a charming fella, he wasn't enough to make the books more than a few stars worth of greatness. Maybe it's because I'm old and grouchy, and I just didn't care about her high school drama.

However, in Charmed Thirds, Jessica is finally in college. I COMPLETELY identified with a lot of her situations in this novel, and I felt her frustrations with Marcus and her temptations with other guys, and her questioning of relationships and their difficulties. I wasn't quite as snarky or intelligent as Jessica when I was in college, but there's a part of me NOW that identifies with College Jess.

Highly enjoyed this installment. Let's see if "... Fourths" can keep the momentum going...
