The author's memoir about his life in the food business is well-written and was initially very interesting. But what was interesting became far less so as one disgusting anecdote followed another, and I began to feel like I was overdosing on the seamy side of life. In fact, I would like to suggest an alternate title for this book: Drugs, Debauchery and Misfits. Now when I eat out, I'll wonder if the people preparing my food belong in rehab, prison or quarantine.
