This is my first Paulo Coelho book, and I apparently made the mistake of choosing his worst.

This book follows the conflict of a controlling Russian man who believes he is empowered by God to make life and death decisions for people. He “saves” (op, I mean murders) a homeless beggar who he decides is better off dead, and his horrified wife leaves him. The book follows his attempt to win her back through a series of random murders, which he has convinced himself is a signal that his wife will respond to.

The book had no depth! The characters, the plot, etc., flat and uninspired. Shame on the publisher for pushing out this book.
