A short little prequel, pretty solid writing. I loved the environment (mostly steam-punk, it's fun stuff). Nice visuals and very nice sci-fi plot. Plot, ideas, environment, all very interesting. Characters had interesting ideas, too, but I didn't get very attached to them, and I didn't feel like the humor bits were funny but slightly annoying, but only slightly. Had some really nice moments, and I'd pick up the sequels if I saw the audios at a library or the books cheap at a library booksale/the dollar store. I think it'd make a nice cartoon or anime. This particular volume though, you can definitely tell it's a setting up for something bigger, not just a story in itself. Not that it ends badly, but it does end with a lot of future possibilities.
