Fran Thoroughly enjoyable read. I am now itching to get to both The last colony, and Zoe's Tale. This sequel to Old Man's War was not nearly so funny as the first, but Scalzi's wry wit still shines through. The Ghost Brigades seems to deal more with serious themes about what IS humanity--what does it mean to BE human. Without being preachy, of course. Like a lot of good science fiction, it makes you think about what we can do with technology, should we do it, and how do we deal with all the unforeseen ramifications of what we HAVE done that may or may not be able to be reversed. This is a touching tale of unexpected heroism of the soul--or whatever it is that makes us truly human. Oh...and I prefer RED jellybeans.
