I read this with the expectation of it being "better than Twilight". I have to say it wasn't better than Twilight, but it wasn't worse either. It was simply on the caliber of Twilight, which I actually thought was pretty good.

The only reason I would rate this book slightly lower than the first Twilight book is because I disliked Katniss' internal dialogue about Peeta. It was unrealistic and forced. Also, nothing else in the book confirmed that her internal dialogue was even justified (or, for that matter, sane). I kind of rolled my eyes whenever Katniss started to get neurotic, because the rest of her character was so strong her neurosis seemed unnecessary. Self-doubt, sure. Neurosis was over the top.

At least Bella's copious internal dialogue felt based in real psychology.
