M-o-o-n that spells "underwhelmed". I was so hoping to love this book, given the respect I have for Stephen King and my proclivity for reading post-apocalyptic dystopian fiction. The character development was superb (of course, given the length of the book that was to be expected), and the thesis of the book was solid, but at the end of the day the suspense just wasn't there. I was never "on the edge of my seat". At times I had to force myself to go on, and for an investment of 47 hours of audiobook listening time, I came away disappointed.

David Read I've been waiting anxiously for your thoughts. Kathleen and I were talking about it after you told us at the last bookclub.

I remember that I started out really liking the book but got nervous close to the end and then just plain angry at the last few pages.... hours of setup and no, none, nada, zero payoff in my humble opinion.

I still remember the frustration and I was in Jr. High when I read it :)
