I'm not the biggest fan of hard sci fi, but the premise was super interesting and I enjoyed the science throughout.

Watts' writing style can be obscure, so I often had to reread to understand what was happening. And the plotting's uneven. The first half is so heavily focused on the psychology of the characters, there isn't really a plot; and in the second half the plot finally gets going, but the some of the characters change too quickly, without a real arc. Still, I cared enough about both to keep reading til the end.
