Lynda La Plante's "Prime Suspect" is a novelization of the author's screen play for the first episode of the fabulously successful ITV crime series that extended over a seven year period on British ITV and then ran on PBS's Mystery Theater in the U.S. The book was released in conjunction with the (sadly) cancelled NBC series of the same name which ran for four episodes in August and September of last year. The book does a nice job of re-creating the character Helen Mirren created for television and which Maria Bello would have Americanized successfully had she been allowed time.
