This was better than the 2nd book and you end up liking Nola, Jack's daughter, so it helps to restore the 2nd book from its former low ratings. But, the ending is such an obvious cliff hanger and leaves you in the same (though different) type of spot that you are left with Mellie and Jack at the end of the past two books that I was very frustrated. For every step forward that they take, they generally take the same step back, so they move nowhere. I liked the flow of this book better, but wanted more out of the ghost story - it was less wrapped up than they have been previously. So, I am giving this a better rating than the 2nd book, but being that it was the 3rd and we haven't made great headway with Mellie and Jack - I am frustrated more than I am anticipatory for the 4th book.
