I love Johnson's series starring Wyoming sheriff Walt Longmire. I hesitated over this book because the storyline was interwoven with the Vietnam War, something I have minimal knowledge about. I am so glad I put my faith in Johnson as a writer and read this book! It was the best Longmire novel so far (#4) and I am eager to get my hands on the next in the series.

Sidenote: A & E is supposed to air a new series based on the books, simply called Longmire, sometime in June. I am excited to see these charecters come to life, but have some trepidation on the depth of these characters translated to tv land. Also a fan of Kathy Reich's Temperence Brennan series, it pains me to see the books translated to a shallow (I confess sometimes enjoyable) reflection of the books. Yes, the saying is true, the book is always better than the movie/series!!
