I am really getting a kick out of Kowal's alternate-Regency series. This book had quite a bit more action than its predecessor, and I enjoyed the larger view that it allowed in removing the protagonists from the genteel English countryside. Glamour is a subtle addition to history; it is a pleasure to observe the ways that it changes both the larger course of events and the day to day life of its practitioners. The only problem with reading a book such as this the week it comes out is the long wait for the next in the series.
