** spoiler alert **
Giffen's first book (Something Borrowed) was fabulous and since then, she has been going down hill. This was book was okay, better then most, but not as good as her first. The story alternated between two women and the story was in regards to the man between them. The Wife spoke in first person while the Single was written in third, which I always find interesting when it alternated like that. Like why did the author choose one over the other? Anyway, Man is a plastic surgeon and works on the Single's son who got badly burned. Then Man falls for Single and Wife finds out through friends in the super gossipy neighborhood.
This book had some over lapping characters from her first book, which I enjoyed on all levels. They weren't main characters in this book by any means, but the Wife's brother was the Dude from that first book, so the usage was used well. Also, this book took place outside of Boston, which is always a nice change for these types of books. I never liked the Single women, maybe because I could see too much of myself in her. I started out liking the Wife, but by the end, she had changed so much into a gossip, that it annoyed me to no end. And like the first book, he never see the Man's side, so knows what the hell he is thinking and why he does the shit he does. Usually I don't mind being left in the dark, but in this book, it was kind of annoying.
Not the worst, not the best, kind of middle of the road.
