Ian Frazier has set me on a path to learning about Russia and Siberia. I read this book with a map of Siberia, a magnifying glass and my computer to look up the images of the amazing sites he wrote about. Frazier, with funding from the New Yorker Magazine, hired 2 quirky guides, bought a broken down van and drove across Siberia. A later trip took them to northeastern Siberia to the coldest places on earth. I,like most people, knew that Siberia had gulags and cold weather. I really knew nothing more. This book was a great read, described a fun exploration and really interested me in Siberia.
