Shad, I read your quip about Monty Python. I confess, I've never seen them per se, though I have seen Cleese in a movie or sketch.

But if that's what it takes to make this epic poem entertaining, I might check them out.

Mark Okay, I did and can see how Song of Roland lends itself to the satiric treatment I just saw. You're right. It's a good way to view it. I'm trying to recall my rxns to reading it a few years ago at UNCA or the fact that a couple of the students drew parallels to SOR and the current situation in Iraq.

Mind blowing, I suppose. I was always moved when I saw young students nursed all their youth on Calvanist myths, begin to look at the world differently after being exposed to different narratives.
