I would rate this ten stars if I could! Published in 1982, but set in 2025, Stephen King illustrates a future with America’s economy in ruins and a reality show called “The Running Man”—where contestants are hunted by government hitmen in exchange for $100 for each hour they stay alive. Ben Richards, unable to find work and with a deathly ill daughter, decides to go on the show. With only a 12-hour head start on the hitmen and just $4800, Ben sets off to find a new identity and literally run for his life. Ben beats the longest running record for avoiding capture (eight days and five hours) but can he make it thirty days to win the top prize of one billion dollars?
