This is a remarkable and memorable book. With Death (the collector of souls) as the narrator, it is the story of Liesel Meminger and her journey from ages 9 to 15 during the time of Nazi Germany. The writing is lyrical and powerful, and the book is emotionally searing and unforgettable. It explores deep and important themes. This book provides a total reading experience. This is one of the best books I have ever read during a lifetime of reading (I am 58 years old).
