** spoiler alert **
I really struggled with whether to give this book three or four stars. If I could have given it 3.5, it would have been a done deal.
The majority of the problem I had with this book is that the chapters don't really seem to flow together that well. This problem gets a little better in the later, more modern chapters, but especially in the beginning, I felt like I was just reading a series of separate essays with no central point.
That said, the arguments she makes in each individual chapter she makes well. I learned a lot of not-so-great stuff about the inner workings of several presidential administrations. She spent a lot of time (too much, I say) on Reagan, who I honestly have never learned much about. Spoiler: She doesn't paint him in a great light.
I felt like I was reading an extended version of ten of her monologues from her show, that just happened to have a common thread. I would give another book by her a chance.
Recommended for: Fans of her or her show or those who share her political leanings.

I would recommend reading some of the good material on Reagan. I think you will be suprised at how good a President and man he was, and how smart an executive (especially compared to the ones since)

Andy...are you kidding me??? Reagan was a dumb, evil man who spent the last 4 years of his administration in a "fog" via Alzheimers.
