Holy Moly Maui Wowee, that was a good read. I fear I overscored the last two books as this one is easily better than those, and so the five stars here seem less relevant. The other two are wonderful in their own right but i felt the payoff came here in the third volume.

For the first time in Martin's epic, he uses the multiple narratives to his advantage, crafting the quintessential "bad" guys in a white light and unearthing the not-so-neat details about the beloved. The stories involving the Hound and the Mountain were so damned good it was hard to avoid skipping chapters.

Jon and Arya as always steal the show while Daenerys makes herself much more relevant but still a background detail in conjunction with Westeros.

Loved this one. Favorite so far.

matt aw man, this makes me want to come back to this, but i was trying to read les mis before the movie comes out.

read something else before book 4 so i can catch up.

Kris ill just tell you it sucks so i don't overhype it. But for real, i thought...Man, Matt put this story down 1 book too early.
then again im blowing through them (halfway through 4) and if i finish the fifth one before he writes the 6th one (which i will) ill be bitter that i have to wait.
