A good read. Second of Hakan Nessers books that I have read and the best of the two. I have warmed to the character of Van Vetteren. A chap who relies on instinct and sudden insight as much as the hard grind of real detective work. The country in which the book plots are based is not given. It seems at one time like Sweden or Denmark but has Dutch and German names scattered about. This lack of a definite sense of place does not diminish my enjoyment of the books but it is only human nature to want to put things in their correct pigeon holes.
