well...a push pull of emotions....a master writer can create that love/hate reaction for the reader. I was taken up with the characterizations and should i say disliked them all immediately and then loved the book for making me feel it. O Wilde put me through the wringer on this one. I didn't think of it as science fiction or a horror story until the end it was more a true story of how vanity and shallow thinking and how weak we can be in the presence of an influencial "mentor" who leads us to believe they know what they are talking about. It is a vote for developing that moral character which we need more than ever today.
