Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality
by Eliezer Yudkowsky
by Eliezer Yudkowsky
I was going to mark this read, but it's not actually complete. I've read all that is complete now, but there are more chapters coming every few weeks. This is easily the best fan fiction I've ever read; a new take on Harry Potter. Imagine him being raised with a warm, loving family of scientists, and growing up a fiercely intelligent rationalist. Then he finds out there really *is* such a thing as magic. Hijinks ensue. If you like Harry Potter, you'll probably like this (though it helps if you know a little conditional probability theory... *wink*). You'll learn something, too!
