For the most part, this was a fairly decent romance. It had all the usual plot devices, including a scandal, a loveless marriage (except they do love each other, they just don't know it), and an evil villain who tries to harm our sweet heroine. What annoyed me was near the end, when our hero and heroine finally got together (please, you knew it was going to happen). Evans has a scene with the two of them FINALLY communicating with each other. The problem, was that Evans kept switching POV between the two characters every few paragraphs. It seriously was like watching a tennis match (guess who's been watching the Olympics?) and I got a mental whiplash with trying to keep up.
