I wonder sometimes of these "highly acclaimed" books: What people find in them. The descriptions in the book were a bit flowery for me. There was not a whole lot going on - I suppose I should have guessed based on the cover that it's not very exciting, if they chose to just picture two men standing together by a fence... It got somewhat better in the second half. The Catholic family was rather dysfunctional; it was sad to see how they'd ended up. Well, the very end with a sort of reconciliation was good.
