This is my first Christopher Pike book; Falling is a gripping thriller that pays homage to Thomas Harris's Hannibal Lecter novels, particularly in the character of FBI agent Kelly Feinman, who fills the Clarice Starling role—although Clarice Starling was definitely a more likable character.

Falling tells the story of a deeply troubled FBI agent, still recovering from her hunt for a serial killer, is trying to focus on her new case, the kidnapping of a baby. Somehow, in the course of her investigation, she forms a bond with the kidnapper, and the two become friends. For readers who can suspend disbelief over the notion of an FBI agent and a kidnapper being friends, the novel offers a fresh and suspenseful exploration of love and redemption.

Lots of thrills, spills and an ending that was unpredictable.
