Cursed with his family's bad luck, Stanley Yelants is convicted of a crime he didn't commit and sent to a boy's detention center. Every day the boys are sent to dig holes to build character. However, Stanley begins to discover that there's more than character development going on at Camp Green Lake. The boys are forced to dig holes all day in the hot sun. Stanley ends up reversing his family's luck and finding his best friends. I love this book. It is a great book to teach children about social justice.
