it was amazing

I found this book really fascinating on so many levels. I think the Pacific theater of WWII is interesting, but I haven't read much about it. Plus, I think the historical detail about the WACs and the media coverage of the people stranded in Shangri-La really made the period come to life thinking about the world outside of the plane crash. I think it is sad that the native people were so abruptly "civilized" and it is amazing how long they lived on the island of New Guinea without being discovered.
