I didn't love this book (too much train-of-thought and awkward dialogue) but I was interested in the subject matter. Three Polish holocaust survivors meet in a camp in Germany for displaced persons; the book follows their arrival in the US and how they spend the rest of their years. While I've read a number of holocaust books, I've not read any about the aftermath. What a strange, sad state to be in -- the characters can't return home, they have no family or friends, and have few options. Even the United States didn't accept refugees with open arms. They had to "start over", but still had a horribly tragic past that would never leave them. Definitely thought-provoking.
