I went in not knowing what to expect, that's for sure. This tale surrounds a grandfather and grandaughter relationship in war-torn Yugoslavia. It shows the myths and stories of the older generations blurring into the lives of the new as every party struggles to deal with the world falling apart around them. It's a story of love of family and connections to home. And what "home" may mean for each individual.
For a debut novel, it was impressive, even if I didn't absolutely love it.
